Cosmic Ray rejection using Canny edge detector

Cosmic ray rejection in single CCD exposure has intensively been studied in literature. The conventional algorithms rely on the contrast between cosmic-rays and their surroundings, hence edge detection algorithms enables the identification of cosmic rays. To date, Laplacian edge detection is employed to resolve CR signatures. In this work, we investigate the performance of Canny edge detector in resolving CR signatures and compare to the Laplacian edge detector [1].
